Tracking Your Order: What Each Status Actually Means
Quick answer: We dispatch within 24 to 48 hours of payment confirming, and tracking becomes useful once the carrier scans the package. Scans update in bursts rather than continuously, so a status that has not moved for a day or two is normal. If it has not moved in three business days, contact us with your order number.
When does tracking start working?
Once the carrier physically scans the package, not when the order is placed.
This is the single most common source of confusion. There is a window between us creating a shipment and the carrier picking it up and scanning it, and during that window a tracking number can exist while showing nothing useful. That is not a problem with your order.
What do the common statuses mean?
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Payment confirmed | Funds cleared, order queued for packing | Nothing. Dispatch follows within 24 to 48 hours |
| Label created, not yet in transit | Shipment made, carrier has not scanned it | Wait. This is normal for up to a couple of days |
| In transit | Moving through the carrier network | Nothing. Gaps between scans are expected |
| Out for delivery | On a vehicle for delivery today | Make sure an adult with ID is available |
| Delivery attempted | Nobody available, or no ID shown | Follow the carrier notice to rebook or collect |
| Available for pickup | Held at a depot or postal outlet | Collect with photo ID within their holding window |
| Exception or delay | Weather, sorting issue, address problem | Usually resolves itself. Contact us if it persists |
Two notes on the table. The wording differs between carriers, so yours may phrase these differently. And the right response to most statuses is to do nothing, which is genuinely the correct advice rather than a brush-off.
Why has my tracking not updated in two days?
Because packages are scanned at handover points, not continuously along the route.
A parcel crossing several provinces can travel a long way between two scans. Long gaps are especially normal on weekends, over holidays, and on anything heading to a remote destination. A stalled-looking status is far more often a scanning gap than a lost package.
When should I actually be concerned?
Three business days with no movement at all is the point where it is worth asking us to look.
Contact us with your order number rather than the tracking number, since the order number is what we can search. We can see what was dispatched and when, and we can open an enquiry with the carrier, which is generally more productive than you doing it directly.
What we control and what we do not
We control the dispatch window. Everything after handover belongs to the carrier.
That is why we publish a dispatch time of 24 to 48 hours and do not publish a delivery date. Quoting a delivery estimate we cannot influence would be making a promise on somebody else behalf. If you need an order by a particular date, order with more margin than you think you need, especially outside major cities.
Does order size change any of this?
No. A two carton order and a full case of Canadian Fulls go through the same dispatch window and the same carrier network.
What order size does change is shipping cost, since our flat $25 applies once per order regardless of quantity and drops away entirely at $450. That makes a larger single order cheaper per carton to ship, which we cover in how carton pricing works.
Our picks:
- Tracking has not moved for a day: normal. Wait.
- Three business days with no movement: contact us with your order number.
- Out for delivery: make sure an adult with photo ID is there. See proof of age on delivery.
- Ordering to a remote address: allow extra transit time, same dispatch window. Canadian Lights – from $45 a carton.
- Need it sooner: order earlier rather than larger. Dispatch is 24 to 48 hours either way. Canadian Fulls – from $45 a carton.
Frequently asked questions
How long until my order ships?
We dispatch within 24 to 48 hours of payment confirming. Transit time after that depends on the carrier and your destination.
Why does my tracking number show nothing?
A tracking number can exist before the carrier has scanned the package. Until that first scan there is nothing for it to display, which is normal in the first day or two.
Why has my tracking not updated?
Packages are scanned at handover points rather than continuously, so gaps are expected. Weekends, holidays and remote destinations all lengthen the gaps.
When should I contact you about a delay?
After three business days with no movement at all. Send your order number rather than the tracking number, since that is what we can search.
Do you guarantee a delivery date?
No. We commit to a dispatch window of 24 to 48 hours. Delivery timing belongs to the carrier, and we will not promise something we do not control.
What does delivery attempted mean?
Nobody was available to receive it, or identification could not be shown. Follow the carrier notice to rebook delivery or collect from a depot.
What happens if I miss the delivery?
The carrier usually leaves a notice and holds the package for collection or reattempts delivery. Age-restricted parcels are not left unattended.
Can I change my address after ordering?
Contact us as soon as possible. Once a package has been dispatched, redirecting it is the carrier process rather than ours and is not always possible.
Does a bigger order take longer to ship?
No. A two carton order and a full case go through the same dispatch window and the same carrier network.
Do remote addresses take longer?
Yes, in transit. The dispatch window is unchanged; it is the carrier leg that is longer for northern and remote destinations.
Is the package labelled with what is inside?
No. Orders ship in discreet packaging with no product branding on the outside.
